Hello
Welcome to Haus of Fog!
Lately, I have been trying to “lead with positivity.” The world is extremely divided, and I don’t want to add to any of the fighting. That being said, as I am sitting down to write this introductory letter, I can’t help but think about the potential negativity that Haus of Fog may encounter. Maybe I’m still burnt out from my work on Foggy Isle over the past five years, or maybe I’m just tired in general, but I can already anticipate the criticisms of this site by busy bodies: “They think THAT’S art?” “Why doesn’t the site feature more of A, B, or C?!” “Who is funding this garbage?”
It’s not to say that I am insecure about the work that I put out into the world — far from it — but after a decade involved in the indie film world, you get used to people criticizing your every choice simply because you made it, and not them. You know the old adage, opinions are like assholes, everyone’s got one, and don’t share them with the public unless yours is really special. Anyway, I digress…
Thank you so much for reading the first iteration/issue/newsletter of Haus of Fog! Everyone involved in this has put a ton of work into their pieces, and I am so happy to be able to share them with you. If you like what you see, please follow the contributors on social media and share hausoffog.com with your friends. We’re not rich trust fund kids, nor do we have the right opinions to be the lucky government-selected recipients of arts funding. We’re all working-class adults with day jobs and lives who create for the love of it.
Haus of Fog is a project of passion, and the only way to grow it is through word of mouth and enthusiasm. We really need this to succeed, because once AI inevitably takes over, the only things artists will get paid for creating will be Only Fans posts that show off our shamefully mediocre assholes (call back joke, get it?). Okay, thanks for reading!
